Energy flows where directed.  When trying to change, instead of focusing on eliminating unwanted habits and states, focus on adding desired behaviors and actions.

With a positive focus, on something you can do, rather than on what you can’t do, the things you wish to eliminate lose power and gradually are replaced.  Darkness dies in light.

If you desire:

  • to improve health and lose weight? Forget about all the things you shouldn’t eat.  Instead, go on about your normal life, but set a non-negotiable requirement of eating 5-7 servings of fresh, colorful vegetables & fruit daily.
  • better grades?  Ignore your World of Warcraft obsession and your irritating friend, lover or family.   Commit to silent, focused study in solitude for a minimum 90 minutes, 6 days a week.
  • more loving relationship?  Let the chaos, one upmanship and power-struggling go.  Set aside some time to be present, interested and kind to your loved one everyday, even when you don’t feel like it.
  • more money?  Challenge yourself to generating $100, $1000, or $10,000 for a cause that really resonates with you.  You will be surprised by your abilities and you may stumble upon a real money making opportunity.

Wherever you place your focus, mind, thought, ideas, innovation and growth follow.  If you’re focused on the things you despise, positive change will be slow in coming and likely temporary.

Running toward something desired,

instead of away from something unwanted,

feels good and is far more successful.
