Hi Nicki:

Good to see you again! Congratulations on your great loss. You are spot on about the value of support. Last month, I did a food based cleanse with a group of about 13 people, most of whom I met online. It was amazing. We supported each other and in the process some real friendships developed.

Every time I even thought of going off of the cleanse, I thought of my group and couldn't do it. We all served each other this way. Isn't that wonderful?
I love your fire, Nicki.

Oh my gosh, this is so true! I lost 50 pounds a little over a year ago. I had been dieting all my life. You know "On Monday I will cut back --- so on Saturday and Sunday I will eat what I want " And by Tuesday I would be eating the same old non nutritious food. In trying to figure out why it worked this time I believe the difference was having the support of my family and a good friend that was also trying to lose weight. We supported each other every day with ideas on what to eat, and what exercise we did. It was great! We focused on what food to eat, not the food we couldn't eat. We talked about the 20 minutes of time on the bicycle and not the extra time we should have spent on it. We were so positive with each other. We certainly strayed occasionally, but would always encourage each other to do better. We always focused on what we did right, no matter how small. A few years ago if she was having a bad day I would bring her cookies - now I bring her an avocado!
People always ask how I lost weight, like it was a secret thing. I just answer "eating right and exercise" what a concept!
