My last post, stated that the things standing between you and your heart's desires are your beliefs. In response, I received an email stating that some desires cannot be attained regardless of beliefs.
Based on the writer's examples, I agree. If your "desire" is to be Brad Pitt's next wife, it's not likely, though stranger things have happened. The key distinction is that ego-based, spur of the moment, "that would be cool" cravings are not heart's desires.
The desires of the heart, the deepest, truest desires are the ones that originate within you, not in response to someone or something else. They have a feeling tone to them. When you hit on them they bring joy, not titillation, and they are absolutely attainable. They are in your heart because they are your destiny.
Each person's heart's desire is different and nothing is off limits. Life needs artists, business people, parents, leaders, entertainers, homemakers, educators, love givers and everything else.
When Joseph Campbell said follow your bliss, he was speaking from this knowing. You and your bliss are a Divine match. It is your purpose to move toward it. As you help yourself, the universe will conspire to help you.
What you seek is seeking you. – Rumi
Identifying, embracing and letting go of limiting beliefs is the single greatest step we can take toward the realization of our destiny.
If you've read part one and taken the time to dig deep, you should have uncovered some core beliefs that stand between you and your goals. After doing this for years, I still discover limiting beliefs woven into the fabric of my thoughts. A few of them even appear to be helpful; they are the most difficult to ferret out.
Most limiting beliefs about the self crystallize into some form of:
I don't have enough ________________________.
I am not _________________________ enough.
And ultimately:
I am not enough.
The chains of not enoughness bind people around the world, yet the chains themselves are illusions.
In an effort to keep posts short and reader friendly, this post will continue in part three, but will not appear until Saturday because tomorrow a post on another subject is being syndicated on BlogHer (very exciting for me) and highlighted here.
