Today is Day 1 of a detoxing cleanse I am doing with Julie Anne Rhodes, A Goddess In LA, Kathryn Davis and several friends. We’re eating a very pure diet for three weeks to encourage and allow our bodies to release things it doesn’t need and enhance our health. See Jewel’s blog for details and please join us, if you feel it’s right for you.
The point of a physical cleanse is to cause the body to let go of toxins, weight and unhealthy processes. Left to fester, things can hinder our well being, influence our self image and cause real health issues. So it is with the mind.
Mental toxins, the weight of the past and fears not tied to facts can sabotage every attempt at success and happiness. Because they “live” inside of us, we believe they are us. In truth, they are the beliefs, negative thoughts and conclusions we’ve drawn from people and experiences.
Many of our beliefs slipped into our unguarded minds when we were children. Finding the source of the belief is less important than identifying it. Once a hindering thought is exposed to the light of your awareness, you have the power to eliminate it or at least cage it until you can.
What belief stands between you and your desire or goal?
If you answered something along the lines of, “It’s not a belief, it’s _______________ (a person, circumstance or state),” go deeper. The thing standing between you and your heart’s desire is your BELIEF about it.
“I cannot have the financial success I desire because my job doesn’t pay enough, I have too much debt and it’s too expensive to live here,” is really an affirmation of the belief, “I cannot earn more money; I will never climb out of this hole.”
Could someone else in your situation, recover, earn more money and achieve your definition of success? Of course someone could, will and is at this very moment. Why not you?
Why not you? Honestly answering this question will isolate the belief in need of elimination.
The process of shining light on the dark places within isn’t pleasant, but it is the first and often most difficult step toward freeing oneself to be all you were made to be.
In part two, we’ll move forward and work on releasing and replacing false beliefs. For now, dig deep.

Hi Cynthia,I just checked in to see how you're doing, and I see that things are going well here! I'm glad.Nice post here. I love your energy – motivating people to 'dig deep' is awesome – you rock :)I'd like to just add to what you wrote by saying that beliefs are one level of blockage – the mental level. There's another level beneath them – the emotional… and another level beneath that – the *feeling* level. Identifying the belief is sometimes enough, and sometimes isn't (in my experience). If the 'negative' belief was caused by an emotional blockage (for example, the belief "I"m not beautiful enough to be loved by a loving partner" was caused by lack of attention when you were a child…) then clearing that belief might only cause a temporary healing. because underneath the belief is probably an association between love, and deprivation of attention.I've learnt with the healing work I do that people can be healed fully, and really fast, by healing the underlying 'feeling', or 'vibration'. Then the emotional and mental blockages usually disappear.Don't know if any of that made much sense – it's late and I should really go to bed!Love, Ben
Reading your posts are like attending a mini yoga class. Thanks.
Excellent insights Cynthia; I haven't gone so far as a full "detox" but my last remaining vice is coffee and I know that when I start to think "I need a coffee" it's time to cut back on the caffeine. As far as mentally, we all create so many road blocks in our with our self talk and I believe it becomes so natural that we begin to do it on a sub-conscious level. So i'm grabbing my shovel and let the digging begin!
Hi Ben:Are you speaking of the release technique (www.releasetechnique.com)? It is a wonderful approach. For me, ultimately, the association you refer to is also a belief. It may be false and held on to by the inner child or ego, but it is always energy channeled into a belief. There are many approaches to releasing a belief and what works for one does not work for another.I tend to respond to deep feeling, thinking and energy work. Others do best with psychotherapy or body work. The how is less important that the doing.Tell me more :)Always love to see you.Cynthia
NT:Reading your post today was mini trip to ROME. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.Cynthia
Nathan:I have to admit, yesterday was not a great day for me. I had a headache and felt generally awful. I know it was coffee and sugar withdrawals. I woke up this morning feeling like a Rockstar. Happy place to be. I am also digging into my false beliefs and letting them come right up. I always feel like I've struck gold when I find them. Having done this so many times, I know I'll move through it and be better for it. I hope you are enjoying being you today.Cynthia
I'm a bit aggravated. This post and the one that follows are terrific and immensely thought provoking. I come here to say that I want you to dig in deeper and give me more of both part 1 and 2. I almost think there should be a self analysis or some way to help identify what the heart's desires are. Your writing, your insight is simply delightful. And I just am hoping you will provide more of what you have begun. I can only imagine how much richer all of this great, thought provoking work can become!! Please, send/write more!! I'll be looking so forward to it. You are indeed inspirational with your words. I just want more meat with my motivation so I have that protein needed to make it through the journey toward my own dreams and desires. 🙂
Gillean:Thank you for your gracious comment. You are a spirited writer; it's wonderful. My greatest challenge in writing this blog is taking a monumental topic and concentrating it into a reader friendly snippet. I am currently writing longer essays on topics too complex to fit into my blog. When they are ready, they'll be available here.Because people are so different, no one method of self analysis works to identify every heart's desire. I may write a more detailed road map in another essay. For now, I'd like to thank you for your directness and exuberance. I treasure it.I hope to give you the substance you desire.Be well,Cynthia
Excellent question, Cynthia. People say "Why me" when something negative happens, so when positive things happen they Should think, "Why not me?"I have one child, whom I love more than life. I want him always to be happy, healthy, prosperous, strong, generous, safe and kind. I feel that a loving and generous Universe/God/Goddess wants the very same things for us. Draw your positivity to you with your open, welcoming attitude, and remember always to cherish and appreciate what you are given, so that it will stay with you.
Melody:I so agree with your perspective on the universe. What a wonderful way to live, isn't it?Cynthia
