Prevailing over the Shadows

“An optimist is a person who sees only the lights in the picture,

whereas a pessimist sees only the shadows.

An idealist, however, is one who sees the light and the shadows,

but in addition sees something else:

the possibility of changing the picture, of making the lights

prevail over the shadows.” –Unknown

The act of opening up to possibility opens up the floodgates of undiscovered solutions. We tend to fall into habitual thinking patterns, assume we know all there is to know about a situation and are able to predict every outcome.

In truth, there are countless perspectives to view a situation from and we never know all there is to know.

Believing otherwise is naïve and arrogant.

Surrendering to possibility is an admission that we do not know everything and cannot see the future. It is also an invitation for newer, higher, yet unknown solutions, opportunities and synchronicities to emerge.

When you think you’re in an impossible situation, take a moment to acknowledge that although you do not consciously know how to solve the problem, a solution exists and you’re open to receiving it.

Don’t underestimate the power of this simple shift. I credit it with the resolution of several “impossible problems”!
