Blindsided and eager to avoid ostracism, the majority of men responded [to the women’s movement] by amplifying their feminine qualities. They left their posts as leaders, protectors and providers. Some men were content to be relieved of the role and its responsibilities and embraced a perpetual youth, free and unencumbered. Others, morphed into an energetically neutral balance of femininity and masculinity, suppressing their inner fires.

Most men fell silent, not knowing how to be true to their nature without drawing condemnation. They became tentative and unsure. This only fed the perception that men weren’t special and had nothing unique to offer women beyond reproduction. No longer was man looked at as the cornerstone of a family. He became an optional accessory.

The media heavily reinforces this notion by creating advertising and programming that portrays men as incompetent, bumbling buffoons or perpetually aroused adolescents. This tragic mischaracterization is widely spread. Women now express their disdain for inadequate men and disappointment over the dearth of desirable ones.

It’s time to bring the pendulum of change to rest at a place of equal rights and opportunity while retaining our feminine strengths and allowing men their masculine magnificence. Innately champions, men rise to the demands placed upon them. Let us restore the call for protection, fatherhood and honor. Return men to the throne beside us.
