My bio father disappeared early in my life and my step-father was more a step-monster. I had a skewed idea of a father’s role. But then I had my own children and I began to understand how important dads can be. Unfortunately, I married a man like my own father so that didn’t work out for my kids but I hope the cycle ends with me.
