I wrote this post after several months of working with two people who’d fallen prey to teachings of spiritual/mental positivity alone as a method to achieve desires and happiness.

We Walk in Two Worlds

As spiritual beings residing on a physical plane, the greater our ability to function adeptly in both realms, the larger, more lasting and fulfilling, our successes.

In spirit we dream, imagine, pray, tap into higher energies, meditate, obtain guidance, generate and receive ideas. Thought precedes all form. Here is where the blueprint for the attainment of goals, desires, and solutions to problems exists. Daily retreats into the privacy and quiet within improves the quality, efficiency, and outcome of every pursuit. When our connection to our higher selves, and/or God, is strong we learn to follow our deepest desires and inner wisdom. Life opens up, favorable coincidences, synchronicities, and opportunities appear. Windows replace walls and light fills our experiences.

By contrast in the physical realm, we implement, turn the formless into form, communicate and express ideas, build and do all the tasks required to make our dreams real. Here our actions shape our lives.

Yet, living predominately in either the physical or non-physical sphere is ultimately miserable.

A life lived solely in the non-physical realm is filled with unrealized dreams. Followers of teachings advocating perpetual positive thinking and physical inaction as a means of manifestation, sooner or later, become disenchanted, frustrated or feel inadequate because of their inability to manifest desires.

Students report that when they share their discontentment with their teacher, they are met with the explanation that the student faltered and failed to remain positive 100% of the time (as if one could), thus protecting the teachings and shifting the blame to the student. The truth is that every single person has moments, hours and days of negative emotions, challenges, and upsets. Never believe otherwise. Notice further that the same teachers are aggressively using physical means to promote their physical gatherings where the primary goal is to sell products they took substantial and complex physical actions to create. By their conduct, they prove the necessity of well planned, consistent physical action.

On the other end of the spectrum, and just as lacking, are those who believe ONLY in the value of physical action. To them there are no non-physical forces or assets. The mind is simply an operating system that foists them out of bed each day so they can work very hard to scrape enough together to get by, and then escape the grind by watching TV, drinking, sitting at the computer etc., until tomorrow. They strive, sweat and struggle for decades, suppressing the deep aches of an unfulfilled heart.

The Key to Manifesting Success and Happiness

As spiritual beings living in a physical realm, we create in thought and manifest through action. Though the scales may teeter as events unfold, a balance of non-physical thought and physical action is vital to achieving lasting success and happiness.

Begin inside. Immerse yourself in spirit and imagination. Listen to your deepest desires, attractions, and your heart. Catch the plan and purpose of your life. See it, feel it, hear it. Then, using your gifts, talents and drive bring it forth from the invisible to tangible manifestation by taking action. Daily, return to the wellsprings of creation within, touch the source of all that ever was and is, then take more action. Hold true to your vision in the face of, in spite of, every challenge that arises. Fall 99 times, get up 100. Persevere. More spirit, more action.

This is the key.
